I have researched a gazillion recipes to go with ones I know already freeze well. I love a lot of the planning ideas on other blogs I have found but here are some problems I have run into with most of the recipes. #1) My family doesn't eat a lot of leftovers. So, I am trying to eliminate doubling or tripling meals. #2) My family is not a huge fan of soups. I can squeeze a few in here and there, but for the most part, Veggie Soup isn't going to cut it. #3) My boys eat a LOT. I mean, a LOT. They are scrawny but they can pack some food. I can't have 30 days worth of soup and salad or I'm going to end up cooking anyway. I needed some meals with sustenance.
So, here is my plan. I have a list of meals I know freeze well and have added them to my meal plan in the next month. My plan is to double those meals when I make them, put them in disposable containers, label them and pop them in the freezer.
Some of these meals I will cook ahead of time, some I will just put together and store in a freezer bag for the crock pot. I am so excited to see how it all comes together! Please add to the list if you have a favorite freezer meal and send me the recipe. I will be adding the recipes as I cook them up!
Here is the list I have so far:

This is awesome that you would share your research here. Thanks! I would love to stock my freezer just for normal life, too!
ReplyDeleteThat is truly amazing. If you can make and freeze all that, more power to ya, girl. I was just glad to have about a week's worth of easy meals frozen. But then again I was truly blessed to have friends from church and MOPS who made and delivered meals, too. That helped out so much. Some of that stuff was freezable, too, so I put those away for days when I just didn't want to mess with cooking. Good luck and thanks for sharing your ideas!!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO AWESOME Casey!! You are super mom...I've always thought so. I am going to have to steal many of these recipes because I am NOT good at last minute cooking. I need things ready ahead of time and we have a huge freezer with plenty of space to stock up. This is a great thing...thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not pregnant, but I really need to do this! I am looking forward to this series!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Anything to save time, right?!?
